The purpose of this position is to inspect, service, maintain and repair all facets of the Fire Sprinkler and Fire Suppression Systems. Performs routine and complex maintenance and repairs on various fire suppression equipment, e.g., wet dry and pre-action sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, wet chemical systems and carbon dioxide systems. Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
High level of knowledge & application of the National Fire Alarm Code and Unified Facility Criteria 03-601-02 and/or UFC 03-600-01 as well as other applicable codes and standards.
Must be thoroughly capable of reading, interpreting, and applying system design plans, as well as building construction drawings and documents.
Ability and willingness to work independently and as a team member on all aspects of fire sprinkler systems, including maintenance, testing, repairs, and troubleshooting.
Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.
Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 4 blank visa/stamp pages remaining.
Must possess driver’s license with at least one year of remaining validity.
Must possess, or be able to secure and maintain a Secret Security clearance
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING
Professional Certifications from National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III is required.
NICET Certified Level I, II, III and IV – Water-Based Systems Layout
NICET Certified Level I, II or III – Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems
NICET Certified Level I, II, III and IV - Special Hazards Systems
EDUCATION:
Must have at least High School diploma, Technical School or Vocational course graduate is required.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited College or University is highly desired.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum five (5) years of experience in the Fire Protection/Life Safety Industry including:
Experience in Fire Sprinkler Field as Pipefitter Journeyman and/or Foreman.
Extensive knowledge of various types of Sprinkler Systems (wet, dry, pre-action, fire pumps, etc.)
Experience with the following systems:
VICTAULIC, MINIMAX Sprinklers, Steel Schedule 40 Above ground Piping, PVC-U, PN16 Underground Piping (Bell/Spigot Type Joints), Potter water flow detectors & Nitrogen Generators, Siemens SINORIX1230 (Clean Agent System) & Patterson,Marathon, Tornatech Pumps & Motor & Controllers
