The Quality Control Manager will oversee, provide guidance, and coordinate Quality Control activities including testing, sampling, and calibration activities consistent with established standards, while assuring compliance with ISO and internal policies and procedures.
What does the position do?
- Lead all aspects of the quality control and production functions at the site.
- Inspect, test and sample all products from receipt of raw material to release of finished product.
- Prepare and implement appropriate inspection and test procedures.
- Support and make sure quality system, regulatory policies and work instruction.
- Maintain all quality control records; review and approve Quality Control documents including but not limited to: specifications, procedures, work instructions, reports, etc.
- Ensure the control of analytical test and measuring equipment including performing periodic in-house calibration of analytical equipment (GC’s, HPLC’s) and maintenance of these calibration records.
- Ensure product requirements to fulfill customer orders are planned and scheduled via regular planning meetings.
- Ensure that all established and appropriate process controls, procedures and written work instructions are adopted and/or prepared particularly where their absence would affect quality.
- Maintain quality and quantity of output; arrange for equipment, materials and supplies to be available for work assignments; see that equipment is given accurate care; troubleshoot faulty operations to resolve cause.
- Respond to and resolve any product quality related problems that may arise.
- Review any non-conforming product and resolving actions required.
- Assist in the development of new processes and process improvements.
- As needed, develop new analytical methods and procedures; provide analytical technical support to customers.
- Prepare certificates of analysis.
- Complete work in compliance with customer requirements and with the applicable standards, industry, health and safety and company procedures.
- Report on patterns, trends and other quantifiable measurements to resolve effectiveness of the QMS and related processes.
- Control and secure quality control information.
- Assist in figuring out priority of urgent items and appropriate action plan to effectuate priority.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What do you need to have?
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology , Biochemistry or science related field
- 5+ years of related/applicable Quality Control experience; minimum 1 year of leadership experience
- Experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred

- The employee is expected to shut down the operation and notify management if an unsafe condition is observed or an instance of regulatory non-compliance that requires immediate attention arises.

- Meet minimum training requirements for RCRA Hazardous Waste Management (40 CFR 262.17(a)(7)) within 6 months of employment, and re-train as required by the Kentucky DEP and US EPA hazardous waste regulations
