| Batavia, IL (pop. 26,000) – The City of Batavia is seeking candidates that possess the expertise in Electrical Engineering that can perform a variety of design, evaluation, operations and planning duties for their electric utility. This work involves a high level of technical expertise and knowledge of electric utility codes and standards. The City of Batavia has operated its municipal electric utility since 1889. The utility serves approximately 11,000 customers and receives power from the national grid via two independent 138kV transmission lines which are owned and operated by the utility. The utility has two 138kV to 34kV substations and four 34kV to 12kV substations. There is a mixture of both overhead and underground 34kV and 12kV distribution infrastructure. The utility also maintains a fiber optic communications network that supports City and other local government entity operations. The City incorporated as a village in 1856 and as a City in 1891. It became a home rule community in 2009. The current population is estimated to be around 26,000 people. The City was nicknamed “The Windmill City”, because of its industrial role in the 19th century as the windmill manufacturing capital of the world. Many antique and replicated windmills are located throughout the city. The community covers about 10.76 square miles and is serviced by transportation links to the Chicago metropolitan area and the interstate highway system. The City is located in both DuPage and Kane Counties and is the oldest city in Kane County. The anticipated salary range for this position is $89,146 - $122,903 DOQ, plus an excellent benefit package. Residency within the city limits is not required.
